6. NON-FINITES
|
¢ There are three
non-finite verb forms :
1. The infinitive form: -
‘to’ or without ‘to’.
2. The – ing form.
(present participle/Gerund)
3. Past participle (
verb-ed, regular,irregular verb)
*Remember:- The infinitive without ‘to’ is
often called the base form of the verb.
I) Infinitive- ( क्रियापदाचे मुळरूप)
§ Read
the following examples:
1.
I
want to read a novel.
2.
They
wanted to read a novel.
3.
Can
you name the vegetables?
“The
verb which is not limited by person and number is called the infinitive verb”.
टीप:- Infinitive वर काळ,कर्ता,लिंग,वचन,पुरुष यांचा परिणाम होत नाही.
e.g. to write, to
read, to come, to go, to run.

Sometimes the form
of a verb in a sentence names the action but does not change according to
tense, number or person. Such a form is known as a non-finite form or
an infinitive. An infinitive is used with or without ‘to’.
Examples: How did people first begin to drink tea? Can
you name the beverage?

F Infinitive- चे उपयोग:
1)
मुख्य क्रियापदाचा कर्ता म्हणून: e.g To error is
human.
2)
मुख्य क्रियापदाचे कर्म म्हणून:e.g. I do not like to
play
3)
विशेषण म्हणून: e. g. This is the time to study
4)
क्रियापदाचे पूरक म्हणून: His ambition is to
stand first in the examination.
5)
क्रियाविशेषण म्हणून: e.g. We eat to
live.
6)
शब्दयोगी अव्ययाचे कर्म म्हणून: e.g. The bus is
about to go.
7)
कर्मवाचक पूरक म्हणून: e.g. I saw Sachin play.
8)
वाक्य मर्यादित करण्यासाठी : e.g. To criticize, he isn’t a great
man at all.
